Community engagement

I have built online communities from zero at organizations with no existing infrastructure, no playbook, and no precedent. My approach combines strategic program design with the kind of human presence that makes people want to stay.

When I joined Elsewhere as their first community manager, the venue had 175 Discord members and no formal community program. I built the entire infrastructure from scratch. Within two years, I grew the server to 4,000+ members, making Elsewhere the only music venue in New York City with a successful community of that scale on Discord. The platform became a core marketing channel, particularly effective at driving ticket sales for emerging artists. I also launched a recurring artist AMA series that deepened fan connections and drove a 39% increase in community engagement and a 24% lift in user retention.

As Refraction's inaugural community manager, I directed daily engagement for a 2,000+ member Discord community built around a web3 art collective. I developed a comprehensive onboarding program that reduced churn by 42% and improved member satisfaction by 13%. Recognizing that this audience spent long hours online, I also launched a wellness initiative featuring daily guided meditations, gratitude shareouts, and artist-led coffee chats that increased community morale and productivity by 22%.
